It seems like only yesterday when Deb’s Family Jewels creator Deb Katz found a way to combine her love of photography with her desire to embark on a part-time career which she could operate out of her home. She already had a full time job as a dedicated wife and mother of three.

Deb’s home is adorned with pictures of her family and friends, many of which were taken by her own camera. It was only natural that these pictures would provide the inspiration for her first necklace, one brimming with charms featuring her own family.

The reaction of those who saw this sterling silver charm necklace was immediate and overwhelming, and with that, Deb’s Family Jewels was born.

From that first charm necklace, her part-time labor of love has evolved into a full-time business which showcases all types of jewelry, including necklaces, bracelets, key-chains and one of a kind gemstone pieces available with or without charms.

Deb’s creative journey began in high school when she first studied photography and creative writing at the Northfield Mount Herman Summer Prep School in Massachusetts .

She continued her course of study at the Advanced Placement Program at Cornell University. Deb broadened her horizons and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Marriage and motherhood soon followed and Deb’s commitment to her family is evidenced in her office where homework projects and family pictures commingle with silver charms and semi-precious stones of every shape and color. Always one to say “yes” to a good cause, Deb’s creations have been the eagerly accepted donations of many fundraising events.
